Celebrating Christmas 2012 & New Year 2013

01.07.2013 by Leah // Leave a Comment

We celebrated Christmas and welcomed New Year at our home.  Compared with last year,  this year’s celebration was more upbeat – with AJ and I entertaining friends over at our apartment and then there’s my little nephew, Liam, who also spent the holidays here in the Metro (much to the delight of my parents!).

To prepare for Liam’s coming, my dad re-decorated my old room and transformed it into Liam’s “play room”.     Good work, daddy!

Can't believe that this was once my room! Sorry there's lot of "pink" for a boy's room. The sticker decals were mine and my parents didn't remove them anymore when I moved out hehe.

For our traditional Christmas dinner at home,  I was tasked to re-create the  the tea party that AJ and I threw for our good friends, Denise and Roy (and my inaanak, Maxine).

The set-up was very much the same, except that my parents’ dining table is bare (they do not use tablecloths) so I used my left-over dollies as placemats:

We had a very light Christmas dinner, made up of Chicken Galantina (which I ordered from the office), Chicken Caesar Salad (from S&R) and Classic Sub from Earl’s Delicatessen.     I got too excited with the food so I wasn’t able to take pictures of them (sob!), except for these sub sandwiches we bought from Earl’s:

Liam, who loves everything with “sabaw“, had Clam Chowder soup (also from S&R), mixed with white rice.  Look how he’s grown up!

But I think he got envious of us adults having a slice of those classic italian sub sandwiches so he asked his mom for a bite, too.

It was the easiest Christmas dinner I’ve prepared because I did not cook anything haha!

But I made bawi in the New Year dinner we had last December 31, still at my parents’s house.   AJ and I cooked everything!    And since the lucky color for 2013 is green, all our food has a green in them!   Check these out (sorry for the blurred pictures, I used my cellphone camera for them):

Bacon-wrapped Asparagus Sticks. So simple to make and yet it's the bestseller! Just wrap asparagus sticks with bacon, drizzle with olive oil, sprinkle with some pepper and pop into your oven or oven toaster. Cook in high heat until bacon is cooked.

Our "green" pasta: basil pesto pasta with bacon and mushroom overload!

It was a “sold out” dinner(!), with only the extra pesto sauce as left over.     AJ and I went home super happy because everyone loved what we prepared.

AJ and I waited for the New Year by watching a movie.  As the clock neared 12, we started making noises and went to the kitchen to watch the fireworks (we are at the 2nd floor and can see the fireworks from Ayala to as far as Bonifacio Global City).

Then the clock striked 12 and it was raining beautiful fireworks from our kitchen window!

After watching the fireworks and greeting our families and friends, we had the sweetest and sexiest Asti Martini as a toast to the New Year: Asti Martini Cinzano.  Yes, it’s really ‘dressed’ in a corset, hehe!

What a blast!   This is how we like our New Year celebrations to be – at the comfort of our home, not too exhausted (from the preparations) and just having the best time while waiting for the clock strike at 12.

It was a peaceful New Year celebration at our neighborhood, with only happy noises and (free!) pyrotechnic wonders – thanks to Ayala Corporation and Bonifacio Global City haha!

How was your Christmas and New Year celebrations, friends?

#throwback to Easter 2019 when @ajdeleon77 and I t #throwback to Easter 2019 when @ajdeleon77 and I took mommy and daddy to a double date at Rockwell Powerplant. Today is daddy's 11th month in heaven 💜 The coming weeks are sure going be tough for me because the painful memories from last year will start coming back as we approach his 1st death anniversary. I miss our family bonding time whether in Cebu or Makati, at the mall or simply at home. The over-extended quarantine has made it very difficult for us create new memories as a family (outside videocalls, that is). But I know that with God's grace we will overcome. 🙏

More than half of the leaves dried up. But look, new buds have started to say 'Hi' just last week 🤗 Need talaga ng patience kapag #plantita ka. 😁
