Dios Mabalos, Sec. Jesse

09.01.2012 by Leah // 1 Comment

I was at Naga City the other day for work and we took this opportunity to pay our final respect to Sec. Jesse Robredo, who passed away last  August 18, 2012.   Much has been said about his humility, simplicity and silent achievements as Mayor of Naga City for 19 years.  It was evident during our visit how much Naga loves him – every Barangay has placed a tarpaulin with their messages of thanks and love for Sec. Jesse.

His remains lie in Eternal Gardens in Naga City.   His resting place is open to the public and we were thankful to the security people there for allowing us to take some pictures of his place of interment.

This billboard that pays homage to Sec. Jesse is displayed inside the airport of Naga City.  People leave messages written in post-its, which are collected at the end of the day and given to the family of Sec. Robredo.

The outpouring of love was incredible.    Truly we have lost a great stateman, whose effective style of governance has turned Naga from a once sleepy city into a major trade and tourist hub it is today.

Dios Mabalos, Sec. Jesse.

Indeed, we lost an honest & effective public servant worthy to be treasured by all Filipinos.:-( My friends and I paid our respect for him at his resting place last year.
