I recently saw this big sign at Karat World announcing their newest jewelry design: the Infinity Ring Collection. It was a very striking ring design that was also made popular by the hit teleserye of ABS-CBN, "Walang Hanggan". I am not a fan of that teleserye but I am a fan of the infinity ring. While we opted for simple bands for our wedding rings, infinity rings have ... READ MORE
Farewell, Inay
It was a weekend of mourning for us as we learned of the death of my maternal lola (grandmother) whom we fondly call Inay (mother) last Sunday morning. She was 90 years old. We immediately traveled to Batangas (my mom's hometown) to arrange the wake and the funeral which was held yesterday. I have many fond memories of Inay back when I was a kid. I used to spend summers at ... READ MORE
Chicken Sisig a la Mama Sita
I found this at the Landmark supermarket and since AJ and I love sisig, we just have to try making one at home! Cooking your own sisig using Mama Sita's ready mix is so easy! I used chicken meat (instead of pork) and it came out pretty good! First thing you need to do is to boil the meat until it's cooked. Then cut it into small pieces and fry (you can also choose ... New Discoveries at Starbucks
After introducing the sinful Whoopie Pie which AJ and I love to bits, Starbucks has introduced a new dessert that is just as sinful as the Whoopie Pie, only this one is an instant favorite: the Mocha Silvana. What's not to love about this one? Unlike your typical silvana which is made of very rich buttercream sandwiched between two cashew meringue wafers, this one has a ... READ MORE
Afternoon Tea at Manila Peninsula
I delayed writing about our afternoon tea experience at Manila Peninsula because we all got busy and scared and wet in the last few days due to the flooding caused by that storm with no name. Now that the sun is up (it's actually beautiful day today) and everything is calm, we can all go back to our daily routines and maybe hold a little thanksgiving celebration. As for ... READ MORE
‘The Filipino Spirit is Waterproof’
These are just some of the artworks that have been making rounds at Facebook. I soon learned that Ayala Museum called on artists and graphic designers to submit their works inspired by this encouraging mantra that gives homage to our bayanihan (camaraderie) spirit: "The Filipino spirit is waterproof". Check out more of these inspiring artworks at ... READ MORE
Red Alert
It's been raining here at abnormal level for 2 days. Work was suspended yesterday and it's a good thing I decided not to report today too because work was again suspended at our office later this afternoon. I am both sad and worried for those who still came to work today and now cannot go home because most of the roads are flooded (waist deep again) by now. So DOST-PAGASA ... READ MORE
