My nephew is turning one year old this coming October! He was my ring bearer (am glad our church allowed a 7-month old baby boy to be a bearer, whew!) and as the first apo (grandchild) in our side, he’s a run-away favorite!
For his birthday, his parents decided to have a “Cowboy” theme. I was tasked to do his invitation, and I immediately drew inspiration from this custom cowboy invitation from Chelle Paperie:
I love the silhouette little cowboys in them! The invitation is very classic, minimalist in look and is easy to design.
So I searched online for cute little cowboys in silhouettes and here are my favorites:
From istockphoto.com, I saw this little cowboy with a little horse toy:
A little cowboy with a lasso (from etsy):
Another cowboy with a horse toy (from spiderpic.com):
I downloaded some Western-style fonts at dafont.com to complete the cowboy-theme invitation. Here’s the study I sent to my brother and sis-in-law which they immediately approved =)
Am so happy they liked it! Now the challenge is to find the right paper in which to print the invitations. I’m thinking of very thin abaca rope to hold the 2-card invitation and then place them in a brown envelope to complete the western look. Whaddya think?
I hope you enjoyed my little design project. For those interested, I used the fonts Nashville, Future West and Anderson Four Feathers in the invitation. They’re all available at dafont.com – for free.
