We celebrated my dad’s 65th birthday last Monday at Tagaytay City. We left Manila at around 9:00 a.m. and was there just before lunch time. After taking a short tour of People’s Park, we headed off to Bag of Beans for a late lunch (side story: we were supposed to eat at ViewPoint but could not find it so we ended up here).
This is not the first time I’ve been to Bag of Beans. I love their coffee and pastries so when at Tagaytay I make sure I stop by here. Coffee aside, I love just being there – in their big garden cafe that’s makes me feel I’m just in a neighbor’s garden hehe!
The coffee and pastry shop:
Entrance to their cafe restaurant:
Al Fresco dining at its best. I like the tropical / shabby chic vibe in it.
There’s also a souvenir shop inside (that’s AJ in red, checking out the organic tea flavors on sale):
They sell various products from lotions to lip balms to shampoos and tea:
Now – the food! Bag of Beans offers mostly Filipino food, but there are also burgers and pasta in their menu. Here are some of the dishes we ordered (with our rating: 5 being the highest and 1 being the lowest):
Chicken a la Kiev (P350.00) – 3/5
Pan-broiled Mahi Mahi Fillet (P275.00) – 2/5 (it was dry)
Pork Tapa with garlic rice and fried eggs (P195.00) – 4/5
Pork Longanisa with garlic rice and fried eggs (185.00) – 3/5
Pork Barbeque with White Rice (P195.00) – 3/5
Sadly, there’s nothing exceptional in the food we ordered. But since we took our lunch late, we were hungry and were able to finish almost everything.
Lackluster meals aside, a trip to Tagaytay would not be complete without stopping by Bag of Beans. They serve the best coffee in Tagaytay, and I am missing the iced cafe latte that we had there last September.
Bag of Beans is located at 115 Aguinaldo Highway, Mendez Crossing West, Tagaytay City. Check out their website for more details, including their packages for events catering.
