Splurge versus Save on Beach Bags

05.07.2013 by Leah //

SPLURGE:

Mar Y Sol Caracas Basket Tote ($94.00)

Joie Louisa Woven Tote ($118.00)

Colorful woven and straw tote bags from the public markets in Naga City!  Prices start at $1.50!!!   Imagine that – the amount of one high-end brand bag can already buy you enough of these native bags for the whole clan!

I am suddenly missing Naga!  You see, this progressive city in the Bicol region is known not only for its pili nuts and laing, but for its export quality woven and straw bags as well.

The last time I was there (October last year), I bought home a box full of them but they’re mostly bilin, I wasn’t able to keep some for myself.    How I’d love to stock on those colorful straw tote bags again (like in the picture below, displayed behind the mini-string bags) as they make the perfect beach bags!

So, will it be splurge or save?
