Update on Rustan’s

07.31.2012 by Leah //

This update on my issue with Rustan’s is super delayed already.   We got so busy these past few weekends and the typhoons further delayed our trip back to the store.

Anyway, Rustan’s was able to make true its promise and informed us before the 15th that the repaired induction cooker was ready for pick-up.  Remember, we gave them only until the 15th to have the repaired unit ready, otherwise, they should change it to other items instead to compensate.

We were only able to pick up the repaired cooker last Saturday.  We tested and it worked fine – heating up a pint of water in a matter of seconds.

Rustan’s also agreed to grant us another 1-year warranty for the unit.  We asked for a documentation of that extended warranty and at first, Shirley the supervisor just wanted to write it down on a piece of paper.  AJ demanded that they at least put it down in a bond paper, typewritten.   It took a good 10 minutes for Shirley to produce that piece of paper.   If not for me checking her out at her office, she probably wouldn’t be able to produce one at all.  And why is that?  Because I found her at her office just sitting and it was her superior, the Assistant Manager, who was trying to compose that letter / certification.

We’re really glad it’s over and done with.   After more than 1 year, we finally went home with our repaired, good as new induction cooker (forget about the box, it looked so worn out already – what with all the traveling and transfers it has to endure!):

But the question now is – are we still going to use this one?  We have a stove-top cooker already and our Saladmaster electric skillet.

Yes, we’re going to sell this one.    Induction cookers are actually one of the more energy-efficient appliances you can find today, with energy-to-heat transfer rate of 84%.    Compared to gas, they are more safe to use because there’s no open flame.    Lastly, they’re easier to clean – no need to worry about those hard stains and grease!

And because this particular one went into so much trouble before finally being declared “fit to work”, we are selling it at almost 70%  discount!

Contact me if you’re interested.  Guaranteed brand-new parts, with warranty until July 28, 2013.

[…] I will let you know how this will end up.   The people at Rustan’s have until tomorrow to make good their promise. Update!  Rustan’s made good their promise, but we’re still not 100% satisfied.  Find out why here. […]
