Sausage and Vegetable Bake

06.03.2012 by Leah //

This is the perfect dish to make when you have guests coming over at a short notice.   Prepping up the ingredients is a breeze, and baking takes less than 15 minutes only with the Saladmaster Electric Skillet.

For this super easy one-pan dish, you will need:

  • 2 garlic bulbs, sliced in half
  • 2 red onions, sliced into 6 wedges each
  • 2 white onions, sliced into 6 wedges each
  • 2 carrots, sliced into 3-inch long sticks
  • 3 potatoes, sliced into 8 wedges
  • 1/3 cup olive oil
  • 1.5 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 2 tablespoons rosemary, chopped roughly
  • 1 cup cherry tomatoes
  • 6 fresh pork or beef sausages

We used the Bavarian Smokies from Earle’s Deli for the sausages.

Step 1:  Pre-heat the Saladmaster Electric Skillet to 100C (or, if you have an oven, pre-heat to 350F).

Step 2:  In a bowl (or roasting pan, if using an oven), mix together garlic, onions, carros and potatoes.

Step 3:  Drizzle vegetables with olive oil.  Season with salt, pepper and rosemary.

Step 4:  Toss well to combine.

Step 5:  Place in the Saladmaster Electric Skillet and bake for around 5 minutes (in a regular oven, bake for 40 minutes).

Step 6:  As soon as the vegetables are cooked, add the tomatoes and sausages.  Turn the temperature lower to 90C and bake for another 5-8 minutes (in a regular oven, you have to bake for another 30 minutes).

Step 7:  Allow to cool for 10 to 15 minutes before serving.

Ta-da!  Perfect with bread and beer!

Tip:  Hungarian sausage is also a great substitute for the Bavarian Smokies, especially if you want to add a fiery kick to the dish.

(Recipe is from the October 2011 issue of Yummy Magazine – Philippines)
