Much has been said about Magnum Ice Cream and the hype it created – thanks to Twitter and Facebook, and getting gorgeous models to promote this high-calorie sweet (check out Chuvaness’ story about the big launch).
Like the many others, we immediately bought some as soon as they became available. I got the almond flavor while AJ opted for the classic one.
The verdict? Sorry but we were not impressed. The Belgian chocolate was good, alright, and probably was the factor that gave it a high price tag (P50.00 each), but the ice cream was a tad too sweet for my taste and the chocolate melted quickly.
I still prefer these Korean ice cream goodies that can be bought from a Korean Grocery located at Hobbies of Asia (along Macapagal Avenue). Why, they taste even better than Magnum!
The one in blue package is a best seller at the Korean Grocery, and retails for only P30.00 / piece. It has a chocolate bar in the middle and the vanilla ice cream is coated with milk chocolate and peanuts. The one in light brown package is a bit bigger and has an expresso flavor that I love. It sells for only P60.00, which I find cheap considering that the ice cream inside is a premium flavor already.
Too bad I can’t read any Korean characters but I checked the brand’s website and found that it carries a long list of grocery food – from ice cream to yogurt drinks and even chips. Check it out!

Korean ice cream is great. There’s a Korean store near our house and my sister and I have been trying their flavors one at a time. You should try Melona. We like most of their flavors. 🙂
BTW, I’ve also tried all the flavors of Magnum and it seems that the almond has the sweetest chocolate coating. It seems to have milk chocolate, while the other 2 seem to have slightly sweet dark chocolate.

Hmm, Melona sounds familiar. I may have seen that somewhere.
Ohh, so I got to taste the one with the sweetest coating pala hehe! I’m partial to those with nuts so I got the one with almonds =)
