Food Post: Panciteria Lido

02.28.2012 by Leah //

I’ve been hearing about the pugon-roasted (pugon is brick oven in English) asado (roast pork) of Panciteria Lido and how good it was.     I’ve tried brick-oven cooked pizzas but roast pork?  This is gonna be my first.

We were finally able to try it when we passed by a Panciteria Lido branch along Pasong Tamo, on our way to Waltermart.

You won’t miss the restaurant which is located at the old Marvin Plaza building, just across Goldilocks.

It was not yet dinner time when we got there but we suddenly felt hungry upon seeing this:

Unfortunately, this dish was no longer available when we ordered for it.  So we chose instead from their wide array of menu:

Of course, we have to try the famous asado or roast pork – which is available in a rice meal (P175.00):

It was sooo good (!)  The pugon-roasted asado surprisingly tasted like smoked bacon which I really love.    It was cooked well and evenly – with no burnt or half-cooked areas.

What more, this meal came a vegetable dish, chopsuey, which is cooked Chinese-style.

We also tried their Chami Special (P195.00) – which is plenty for its price, but I did not find it exceptional:

I’d gladly go back there again if only to have those yummy asado.  We also plan to try their other dishes (they serve mostly Chinese dishes) to see if they taste as good as those from the old panciterias in Binondo.

And oh, not contented with our asado meals, we  took home a box of pugon-roased asado to share to my parents, which is very affordable at P267.00.

Panciteria Lido also has branches in Las Pinas, Mandaluyong, Paranaque and Quezon City.  Check out their exact locations here.
