The Wall Clock that Lasted 2 Days

08.13.2011 by Leah //

Last week I posted about our wall clock breaking down.   I almost ordered the one from IKEA but I want to look around.   I saw this very nice Seiko wall clock at SM but it is priced at P2,000++ so I didn’t get it.

Last Sunday AJ and I were at Rockwell and there’s this clock shop beside Rustan’s Supermarket selling Japan-made wall clocks.    There were lots of reasonably-priced wall clocks there.

So we bought this:

I’m not so familiar with the Solar brand but the technician at the shop (who turned out to be the boss) assured us that it’s of superior quality, since the motor is manufactured in Japan.

The price is of this clock brand is also competitive, and the one we bought cost P1,295.00.   We love it.  Big numbers, industrial-type design and white dial.  It also comes with a 2-year warranty.  Perfect.

We placed it in our cupboard, enough to be seen from the living room:

But last Monday, a small accident happened:   the hook holding our brand new wall clock gave way and the wall clock fell with it.  It was tragic, hehe.

It’s a good thing AJ was at home when it happened.  He rushed the poor clock to Rockwell and was told that the motor was not damaged, but the glass and the clock hands were.   So he decided to order for a new one instead (since the fault was ours, it’s not covered by the warranty), and used the working motor to salvage my old Harry Potter wall clock.    We will place that in our bedroom once the re-ordered clock is picked up tomorrow.

So our new wall clock now costs the same as that Seiko clock I’ve been wanting but thought is too expensive to buy!   Yikes!

Hi there! The shop is called Klinic Clock, if I remember right. It’s located at the ground floor of Rockwell Powerplant, just beside Rustan’s Supermarket. =) You won’t miss it with the many clocks being sold there =) They have other designs too, same Solar brand.

Sorry I got to read this only now. We got that at Rockwell Powerplant but the clock shop is no longer there the last time I checked.
