Red Alert

It’s been raining here at abnormal level for 2 days.   Work was suspended yesterday and it’s a good thing I decided not to report today too because work was again suspended at our office later this afternoon.  I am both sad and worried for those who still came to work today and now cannot go home because most of the roads are flooded (waist deep again) by now.

So DOST-PAGASA raised its alert to red for the second time this week:

RED WARNING SIGNAL:
Issued at: 04:30 PM, 08 August 2012 (Wednesday)

Target Areas: Metro Manila Torrential Rainfall (30.0-50.0 mm/hr) over QC, Manila & Marikina, Heavy to Intense rainfall (15.0-30.0 mm/hr) over Pasig, CAMANAVA, Taguig & Pasay while Moderate to Heavy rainfall (7.5-15.0 mm/hr) over the rest of Metro Manila.

Due to the effect of the series of thunderstorms embedded in the Southwest Monsoon, expect Heavy to Intense (15.0-30.0mm/hr) rains with occasional Torrential (more than 30.0mm/hr) rains within 2hrs.

Residents in flood/landslides risk areas are advised to take precautionary measures and WATCH OUT for the next warning.

Be safe everyone.

Praying for a Fine Weather

I’m getting a bit panaroid now, not because of the wedding details, but because of the weather next week.

According to the news today, a storm is likely to enter the Philippine territory next Tuesday.

Here’s a more descriptive news from my favorite online weather station, AccuWeather:

Tropical Storm Eyes Philippines and Japan

By Rob Miller, Senior Meteorologist
May 20, 2011; 7:03 PM ET

Newly formed Tropical Storm 04W may pose threats for both the northern Philippines and eventually Japan.

As of Friday morning, EDT, the center of Tropical Storm 04W (which had yet to be given a name) was located approximately 200 miles east-southeast of the small island of Yap.

Due to light winds aloft, this storm will move very slowly over the next several days. The center of the storm will pass over or very close to Yap Sunday, EDT.

Early next week, the storm will be over the warm waters of the Philippine Sea, and should be able to strengthen into a typhoon.

The future track of the storm remains quite uncertain through the middle to end of next week. An upper-air trough of low pressure will dive southeastward over southeastern China. This upper-air trough will eventually steer the storm to the northeast.

If the trough moves in fast enough, the storm could be steered on a path that puts both the Philippines and eventually Japan out of harm’s way.

However, if this trough is slower to dive southeastward, the storm may pass close to the northern Philippines, and possibly get steered close enough to Japan to affect that country.

Any effect on the Philippines would not occur until the middle of next week at the earliest, with any possible effects on Japan occurring late in the week.

———

I pray that the storm will be gone by Friday so we can have some sun on Saturday    =(

Please pray for me too.   Would greatly appreciate that.

Feeling so OC! (and some weather problems)

I’m feeling so OC today, excessively meticulous, that I prepared the following which I think I should leave with my coordinator (hehe!):

1.  Acknowledgment Receipt for Suppliers with on-the-day payments (i.e. florist, HMUA, back-up photographer, etc.)

2.  Checklist of Items for turn-over to coordinator on the wedding day (for pick-up from hotel)

3.  Guest List (for registration and seat plan placements)

4.  Money envelopes (for suppliers’ payments)

Our big day is less than 2 weeks away and I’m getting jittery over the "rain-and-clouds" weather forecasts I’m getting online!   Waah!

Just look at this weekly forecast from AccuWeather:

Geez.
