Can’t have enough of Longchamp!

I know, I know.

I have said before that 2 Longchamp Le Pliage bags are enough for me.   But I couldn’t resist buying a third one when I learned that my officemate is selling them at really friendly prices (almost the same price as my first Longchamp bag which I won at eBay).

And since my 2 Longchamp bags are both in short handles, I decided my 3rd bag will be in long handles.  I also got the “Shopping” bag this time, so now I have a small, medium and large versions of the Le Pliage.

Meet my newest bag “baby”, in beautiful green color:

P1080661b

P1080674b

P1080685b

You might have noticed my choice of colors – all in safe shades of blue and green.  I really go for dark colors in bags – they’re easier to maintain that way.  And easy to match with my clothes too – which are mostly outdoor type hehe!

Do you also collect Longchamp Le Pliage bags?  I’d love to see your collection!

Bag Look Alikes

There’s no way in the world that I can afford this Celine Leopard Luggage Tote Bag (priced between P120,000 to P150,000 – and that’s just eBay prices, ladies), which is fast becoming the most coveted bag in the world, next to Hermes’ Birkin:  But I can very well afford this P400 cute bag made of umbrella fabric, with Celine’s iconic bag as the structure and print:

Cute, isn’t it?  I was so happy to find this bag on sale at Greenhills (from P1,000+, it was marked down to P400!) and I don’t think this bag is a counterfeit or anything of that sort.  It doesn’t have the same make or materials as its genuine counterpart.   I think it’s more of a funky interpretation of the iconic Celine Tote Bag.

Remember Hermes’ Birkin-inspired canvas tote bags?  I used to obsess about them but I can’t seem to find a local seller for these!

I love creative products such as these.  It prevents us bagaholics (without the wallets of celebrities and millionaires) from being lured into buying replicas.  I was once a fan of replica bags (okey I’m not so proud of this but I buy what I can only afford) and soon I realized that the best replicas also cost a fortune so I stopped there.  I was able to sell most of these bags at good prices (I take care of my bags like they’re jewelries) but I also kept a number of them, particularly those that are of really good and sturdy quality.  Perhaps I can talk about them in my future posts.

Now, I really save up if I want a specific bag (like I did with my Longchamp bags), but cute bags such as this Celine-inspired fabric bag and the Birkin tote bags (which I am still in the lookout for) doesn’t require decision-making anymore on my part hehe!   I get a “slice” of these luxury bags at a fraction of a cost!  And I won’t be feeling guilty after for buying knock-offs.

How about you?  What’s your take on replica bags?   Do you think these designer-inspired bags are in the same taste as replica bags?   Or are they  “legal” in a sense that they didn’t copy everything – from the materials to stitches to bag dimension to logo stamping to hardware, etc. ?

My new Longchamp Bag!

Remember the peacock blue Longchamp bag I won at eBay in September last year?    Have been using it for quite some time now and I really am loving it – so much so that I bought another Le Pliage bag but I got the small one this time, in classic navy blue color:

Now my collection is deemed complete hehe!

2 Longchamp bags are enough for me.  They’re not cheap to begin with and I already have the 2 sizes I need:  a medium one for work, and a small one for use as my weekend bag.

Btw, I took these pictures at our bedroom, which is also painted in blue.  Blue is not exactly my favorite color, but for these Longchamp bags I was just drawn to this shade.   Maybe it’s the calming effect it has on my eyes that drew me in, but I am perfectly happy with my color picks and I know I’ll be using these bags for a looong time.

Loving my Longchamp Le Pliage Bag! (and how to spot a fake one)

I received the Longchamp Le Pliage bag I won at eBay the same day I got our Cath Kidston mug.   But I got busy towards the end of this week so I’m able to share my latest eBay find only now.

Here’s my Longchamp Le Pliage medium bag with short handles, in a very-pleasing-to-the-eyes color:  peacock blue.

It took me a while to buy a Longchamp bag because of the many fake versions being sold out, and especially in online shops.   I did my research, and here are some tips in which to spot a fake from an authentic Longchamp bag:

The new logo has no line between the jockey and the snap.  Note also the very good detail of the jockey on the snap.

My zipper pull is in pewter color (the color, I learned, depends on the size of the bag), and you can see that the jockey’s details are well-defined.   By the way, Longchamp uses YKK zippers.

The brand name, Longchamp, is written above the stitch at the back of the flap (not under or in between).  Underneath it are the following words:  Le Pliage Type “M” – Modele Depose.   “M” stands for “medium” because mine is a medium-sized one.   A fake one may not indicate the type of the bag at all or may indicate a wrong type.

Authentic Longchamp bags has reinforced snaps:

Note too that my bag’s lining is in white.   Pastel or light-colored bags should have white linings.   Dark-colored ones should have black or brown lining.

The backside of an authentic Longchamp bag has smooth feel when touched, unlike the rough texture of the fake ones.   Also, the backside of the snap must contain the word “ORIGINAL”.

Lastly, the fabric of a real Longchamp is not too shiny nor with too thin knit.

Ebay has a very good guide to help you distinguish between a fake and authentic Longchamp bag.  Do check it out if you are planning to buy your first Longchamp bag.

Enjoy shopping!

Bidding for a Longchamp Bag

I had just placed a bid on this authentic Longchamp Le Pliage medium-sized bag with short handle.   The color is in peacock blue.

I hope I win it!   I haven’t owned a Longchamp bag yet and  I think I chose the best time to buy it because there are many sellers now of authentic Longchamp bags and we can shop for better prices.

How about you?  Do you have a Longchamp bag?  Or do you collect them?  I would love to hear from Longchamp collectors out there!
