Green Favorites

I just realized that most of the beauty + hygiene products I’m using right now are in GREEN!  Check these out:

Listerine’s Natural Green Tea Antiseptic Mouthwash.   For a change, this mouthwash won’t burn your gums.    It has a very light and pleasant taste that will make you gargle a bit longer just to savor it.

Pond’s Anti-Bacterial Facial Scrub.  I’ve been using this since high school and will never, ever part with it.   I’ve tried other facial scrubs (both expensive and not, organic and not) but always went back to Pond’s.  This definitely works well with my skin.  It has significantly reduced oil in my T-zone and I’ve never had a pimple outbreak since I used this.

Human Nature’s Peppermint Lip Balm. I’m not kidding you when I say that this lip balm will cool your lips.   That’s the peppermint working I guess and it’s preciously for this reason why I love this so much.  It not only moisturizes my lips but keeps it cool as well.  Plus, it smells really great.

Olive Oil Dry Oil Mist from the Body Shop.  This best selling product from the Body Shop is also one of my favorites.   I love putting this right after shower.  It’s very light and not greasy at all, even though it has oil properties.   I am also in love with its smell which is simply divine.  I don’t how to name it but it’s fresh and definitely not fruit-y, something which I am not a fan of.

L’Occitane’s Verbera Leaf Soap.   I was able to try this when we stayed at Hotel Celeste last year because they have L’Occitane bathroom products.   It has a citrus-y smell that’s not overpowering, and the soap works a good, creamy lather with just a few scrubbing.    The only downside is the price tag which is steep compared to other commercial soaps that would work just as well.  Although it’s not something I would purchase immediately, it’s definitely one that’s nice to have again.

Is any of my green favorites your favorite, too?   =)

Online Shopping at Human Nature

I love online shopping!  It’s very convenient and is actually cheaper (even after factoring in the shipping cost) because you shop at the comfort of your home, away from the temptation of taking merienda or snacks at the mall, and from buying the things you don’t really need.

So when I learned about Human Nature’s online shopping facility (click here to register), I immediately registered there.  Armed with a list of their products that I want to try (after a very satisfactory product review), I happily clicked away.

Here’s what in my order cart:

Citronella Bug Spray.  This all natural, DEET-free formulation is infused with organic virgin coconut oil (VCO) – known for its skin-healing, moisturizing and anti-microbial benefits – organic citronella oil - a well-known insect repellent, and organic lemongrass essential oil together with rosemary and lavender essential oils give a pleasant aroma that’s good for you but bad for the mosquitoes and bugs.  I love the smell of citronella and this is especially useful now that we are experiencing rains (after a long summer!) and no sooner will we battle with flu-causing mosquitoes!

Natural Strengthening Shampoo.  Clinically proven to reduce hair fall by 80% and thicken the hair by 90% after 4 weeks of continuous use, Human Nature’s Natural Strengthening Shampoo is infused with hydrolyzed protein to fortify your hair, and Philippine coco nectar, a revolutionary ingredient that bursts with amino acids, vitamins and minerals. The breakthrough CREAMFoam® technology acts like a lotion to moisturize your hair and scalp, leaving you with hair so much stronger, healthier and shinier!  I have very thin hair that’s prone to breakage and hair fall.  I am very excited to use this product because I think the commercial ones are not doing my hair any good.

Anti-Bacterial Pocket Hand Soap.  How many times have you used a public restroom only to find there was no soap?  Human Nature has taken note of the need to have a handy soap with us all the time and made their Acapulco Anti-Bacterial Hand Soap into a handy pocket size!   This is going to be very useful for me as I travel as part of my work and I am very much aware of the lack of anti-bacterial soap in most public toilets.  That’s why I always have with me a small bottle of alcohol to disinfect.   But now, with this pocket soap, I don’t have to worry about getting dry hands too!

Payment check-out was a breeze.  It’s nice that they accept PayPal because it’s more secure than paying directly with your credit cards.  As for the shipping fee, I was charged only P45.00 for the above items (3 pieces).   Not bad, not bad!   Can’t wait for the delivery!

Trying Out Human Nature Products

Human  Nature has been around for sometime but it’s only recently that I got to try their products.   I see them at bazaars all the time but never got to check them out, really.   It’s very rare that I find organic products with a very affordable price tag so I really get excited when I see a Human Nature booth.  But I get discouraged every time I see a crowd of people checking out their booth.   I hate having to compete for the sales associate’s attention and I hate it even more when only a few products are available for sale (they’re so popular, they run out of stocks and even the sample products fast).

Thankfully, my friend Denise (of Kitchentales) is now a Human Nature Dealer too, and through her I was finally able to get hold of the products I’ve been wanting to learn about and try.  She gave me a copy of the products catalogue, and I happily browsed through it and learned many good things about their products.

Aside from being a very successful brand, Human Nature is also a social enterprise.  Instead of maximizing profits, the company chooses to optimize them by developing world-class organic farms and other enterprises – bringing jobs to farmers all over the Philippines.  To date, Human Nature has citronella, lemongrass and even virgin coconut oil farms from Bulacan in the north down to Davao in the south – all of which have enabled the company to boost the production of their raw materials while at the same time creating thriving communities for the farmers.

There were just so many products to try but I opted to get these in the first order I filled out:

Purifying Facial Scrub (with strawberry seeds and fine bamboo granules).  I love keeping my face clean (I don’t wear make-up) so I am always on the lookout for a good and effective facial scrub.  I’m using Pond’s Anti-Bacterial Facial Scrub for years now and it’s really effective on my skin, but it leaves my face dry so I have to  apply moisturizer after.     I have to admit the strawberry smell of Human Nature’s facial scrub was the one which drew me in, but after using this product for just 2 weeks, I could feel the difference from my Pond’s facial scrub.  This one leaves me with a soft and smooth skin, even without any moisturizer on!    AJ also uses this (more than me!) and swears by its effectiveness in keeping his skin smooth and clear.    We super love this product and hope that Human Nature will never discontinue this line.     Retail price is only P104.75 / 50ml tube.

Sunflower Beauty Oil.  This is the product that made Human Nature a household name.  It boast of 17 benefits – from being an effective whitening agent to stretch marks remover to make-up remover to body moisturizer to eye moisturizer to pimple marks remover and so on.   I am religiously applying this product now in areas where I have stretch marks (I was overweight when I was young and I rarely exercise back then, so I developed stretch marks in my legs, knees and arms).    I hope it works (hehe!).   Nonetheless, I saw the immediate result of this product when I applied it to the dark pimple mark I have at my right cheek (which I got from the big, ugly pimple I had last week).   I started applying the product only last Saturday and already the area surrounding the pimple mark has cleared, making it look smaller that it was last week.   I got the smallest bottle (50ml) for only P129.75.

Natural Feminine Wash (Chamomile Fresh).  This feminine wash reminds me so much of Nu Skin’s Scion feminine wash which is very mild, is soap-free and doesn’t leave you feeling dry or itchy.   But Human Nature’s feminine wash is more than that – it’s almost unscented (which I prefer) and it doesn’t cost as high as Nu Skin’s.   In fact, a 200ml bottle of Human Nature’s feminine wash will only cost you P159.75, while Nu Skin’s Scion bottle (250ml) ranges from P400 to P450.

Body Butter (with goat’s milk and cocoa).   I picked the unscented one (P50g at only P99.00) but would to try the mango scent next time.  The cream is kinda stick and I’m still getting used to it hehe.   But I love it’s immediate result on my skin – highly moisturized and smooth.    I use this only during weekends (because that’s where I can enjoy longer shower time) and it complements my skin very well.  For a while I feared that this will leave a “sticky” feeling after, especially since we’re outdoors most of the time,  but it surprisingly did not.

There goes my very elementary beauty products review hehe.   This is not a paid post by the way, but I just want you to know that I am really happy with their products so far.    What more, I love the convenience of their dealership program because here I could shop at my own pace.  I can take time to study their products and although there are no sample products to try, the number of reviews available online will more than help you in deciding which to buy.

Go online shopping at Human Nature now or enjoy the convenience of getting your stock from Human Nature dealers!

Current Favorites

Nivea’s Happy Time Deodorant.   I love the orange scent and shower fresh feeling, not to mention the reliable protection I get all day long.   Vaseline’s Cocoa Butter Deep Conditioning Body Lotion.  I’ve been using Vaseline’s Healthy White Lotion for the longest time.   My skin loves it and I love both its smell and milky texture (I hate sticky lotions).  Recently I bought the Cocoa Butter Deep Conditioning lotion because, I have to confess, I was drawn by its yummy cocoa butter smell.   And true enough, I smell yummy when I put it on and it amazingly last the whole day.    I was afraid it was going to leave a sticky residue though, because the lotion was kinda thick, but it didn’t.   I am happy with this one and now I alternate it with my Vaseline Healthy White lotion.      Human Nature’s Purifying Strawberry Facial Scrub  I recently purchased Human Nature products and both AJ and I are now using the purifying facial scrub in its new strawberry flavor.   We both swear at its effectiveness in removing oil and dirt, without drying up the skin.   We use this 2-3 times a week.

I will share more about the Human Nature products I’ve bought as soon as I’m done testing them hehe.  So far the facial scrub showed immediate results andI plan to get a bigger tube of this next time.

Till my next post!   Have a great Saturday, everyone!

Becoming a Radiant Bride

Of course, every bride wants to be radiant and be the most beautiful girl on her wedding.  That is why it is very important that we take care of our skin for the big day.

I am, at the moment, relying on my regular skin care regimen to help me achieve a smooth and blemish-free skin for my wedding.    I generally do not wear make-up, not even a facial powder, because my skin is the oily type and facial powders only give me rashes.

So I really make sure that I clean and moisturize my face daily.   Here are the products I regularly use and have proven to be the most hiyang for my skin:

Olay Total Effects Cream Cleanser (7 Cleansing Benefits in 1). I wash my face with this in the morning and at night before going to bed.

Pond’s Anti Bacterial Facial Scrub.  Being the oily type, my skin is prone to blackheads and whiteheads.  So I regularly use this with the Olay Total Effects Cream Cleanser.

Pond’s Pure White Deep Cleansing Facial Foam.  I sometimes alternate this with Pond’s Anti Bacterial Facial Scrub, especially when I feel that my face is dirty after attending meetings outside the whole day.

Pond’s White Beauty Spot-Less White Cream.  I put this as my moisturizer in the evening (and sometimes in the morning when I needed extra UV protection for meetings outside)

For my day cream moisturizer, I use Pond’s Flawless White Visible Lightening Day Cream.    I started using this only recently because a lot has been asking me if I’ve been to the beach or something waah!  Maybe the darkening was caused by our frequent visits to Cebu and my meetings outside.   Previous to this, I use Pond’s Multi-Benefit Illuminating Facial Lotion.

I honestly want to try a stronger facial whitening product. But I know that my skin is receptive only to Pond’s products.  Perhaps I should try the Kojic soap?

My skin looks okey to me except that I want it to look fairer.  But then again,  that should not a major concern right now cos switching to another products might just irritate my skin. Anyway, my make-up artist, Chichi Sotomil, could very well take care of my looks on the wedding.

What about you?  Are you going to get facials for your wedding?  What is the skin care regimen that you follow in preparation for your big day?
